罗伯特·“鲍勃”·惠勒（比利·加德尔饰），一名中年离异底特律弹力袜制造商，在一次心脏病发作后无可救药地爱上了负责照顾他的尼日利亚裔心内科护士阿比绍拉·阿德班博（福拉凯·奥洛沃福耶库饰）。尽管阿比绍拉起初并不感冒，尽管两人背景迥异，鲍勃仍旧下定决心要为赢得美人芳心使出浑身解数。
